Biography

My name is Jens Evers (first name pronounced ‘yenz’). I was born in Münster, Germany, and raised in a small town just outside of the city. I earned my BA at Bielefeld University in a program that combined courses in literary studies, linguistics and British and American studies, and with a minor in History. I first came to the University of Kansas as an undergraduate exchange student, initially having planned to spend one semester in Lawrence. Then, one semester turned into two semesters of studying abroad, and a year and a half later, after continuing my undergraduate coursework back home in Germany, I found myself back at KU to begin my MA program in the English department. I’m a student in the literature track and mainly interested in American Literature of the 20th Century. I’m fascinated by the ways authors negotiate, shape or question historical legacies and culture(s) of their times.
