Zachary Smith is a Ph.D. student in Rhetoric & Composition at the University of Kansas. He is originally from South Elgin, Illinois and received his BA in English from the University of Alabama. His current research focuses on professionalization pedagogy, technical writing, writing across the curriculum, and processes of consumption and location. Beyond Rhetoric & Composition, he has researched and written in literature, creative writing, and linguistics. Additional interests include: the early works of Stephen King, rhetorical ecologies, trauma-informed poetry, and strategies for facilitating engagement in writing centers. Along with his position as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, Zachary is also a Graduate Coordinator at the KU Writing Center.
