Gibette Encarnación is working toward a doctorate in literature at the University of Kansas.  She holds a Masters degree in English from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI.  Gibette specializes in post-1960’s American literature with an emphasis in Latinx and Afro-Latinx literature.  She has a special interest in diasporic race studies in the Americas.  As part of her dissertation, she is currently researching Dominican writers in the United States and their transnational connections to the history and culture of the Dominican Republic.
