Biography

Ayah Wakkad earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees in English Literature from the University of Jordan (UJ), where she also worked as a GTA and a lecturer for five and a half years. Since 2015 now, Ayah has been pursuing her PhD in Modern British Literature and working as a GTA in the Department of English at KU. Her research interests include Comparative Prison Literature, Colonial and Postcolonial Studies, Modern Arabic Literature, and Dystopian Fiction. Of the courses she taught at KU so far are ENGL 314: Major British Writer after 1800, ENGL 209: Introduction to Fiction, ENGL 102: Critical Reading and Writing, and ENGL 101: Composition. Ayah served as a volunteer in the Creative Writing Program that the Department of English has started at Douglas County Jail.
