Biography

Arnab Chakraborty is a doctoral candidate at the Department of English. His dissertation Impoverished Agency: Ethics and Compromise in a Posthuman World investigates the ethics of representing human and nonhuman animal agency in 20th and 21st century American and transatlantic fiction. His research connects animal studies, posthumanism, ecocriticism and postcolonial theory. In his time at the University of Kansas, he has also worked as a research assistant and project manager for The Black Book Interactive Project (BBIP), as part of The Project on the History of Black Writing (HBW).
