Faculty Profile

My primary field of study is Native American and Indigenous Studies across temporal and spatial planes.  Within this field, my interests lie in oral, textual and material cultures and their relationship to what is referred to as “history of the book” and print cultures; indigenous languages – speaking, conversing, and writing, in digital forms, in literary forms, in film, in song, and in aesthetic expression; food sovereignty and environmental studies, including Indigenous concepts and expressions of health and well-being; Indigenous traditional and customary systems of law and the relationship/conflict with colonial systems of law; Indigenous performance and praxis; Indigenous technological practices.  My current book project brings many of these interests together in a study of technological innovation and Native American and Indigenous textual, material, and aesthetic practices since 1968.
