Teaches writing across many genres as well as speculative fiction literature. A longtime editor, writer, and documentation manager, Chris has numerous fiction, poetry, essay, nonfiction, and other publications, primarily in science fiction and technical publications. His debut novel, Transcendence, appeared in 2010 from Hadley Rille Books. He has also taught astronomy and writing, has directed observatory and planetarium programs, has built nearly a hundred telescopes, and restores automobiles. Chris chairs the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award (for best short science-fiction), serves as a juror for the John W. Campbell Memorial Award (for best science-fiction novel), acts as KU's Technical Communication Liaison, and is Director of the Center for the Study of Science Fiction.
